After breakfast, we will visit the Great Pyramids of Giza, of which the only one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is located: the Great Pyramid of Cheops. This famous 230-meter-high monument is characterized by the huge funerary complex with a giant sphinx that presides over the head of King Khafre with the body of a lion. From the esplanade of the 3 Pyramids, we will have the opportunity to discover the interior of the Pyramids Kefrén or Menkaure.

We will then stop for lunch before visiting the Saqqara necropolis, a complex that UNESCO declared a World Heritage Site. Here the funerary complex of King Djoser and his step pyramid stand out. The latter is the first stone construction erected in the world and symbolizes the evolution of pyramidal construction. In the evening, you will return to the hotel to rest.

Cairo

After breakfast in the hotel restaurant, a guide will accompany you to tour the many attractions of the largest city in Africa. We begin the tour with the Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, home to a diverse collection of objects of immense cultural value, among them the treasures of Tutankhamen. The museum’s collection offers a unique opportunity for a first-hand encounter with the lost world of this historic civilisation.

Later, we will visit Medieval Cairo, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This part of the city was built in the 10th century and primarily served as a royal enclosure for the caliphs. It is accordingly filled with mosques and religious buildings of great historical significance. Inside, you will visit the Citadel of Saladin, a fortress in which stands the imposing mosque of Mohamed Ali, as well as the many museums and gardens hidden within its walls.

After this, you will be given the opportunity to visit Old Cairo’s Coptic Quarter. This area has been a melting pot of religions, chief among them Orthodox Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Essential places to visit are the Hanging Church, built on the Fortress of Babylon, the Church of St. Sergius, where the Holy Family is believed to have been sheltered during their period of exile in Egypt, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue, which is one of the oldest synagogues in Egypt and dates back to the 7th century. Finally, you can stroll through the picturesque bazaar of Khan el-Khalili, a fourteenth-century marketplace where you can purchase all sorts of traditional souvenirs, and experience Egyptian haggling at its finest.

The temples of Abu Simbel are located 280 km - 3 hours approx by bus. These impressive temples were on the verge of disappearing due to the construction of the Aswan Dam, but thanks to the worldwide appeal of UNESCO it was possible to rescue these temples by moving them piece by piece to the current site (200 meters further back and 60 meters higher than the original site) and that has allowed it to endure to this day. The main landmark of the complex is the Temple of Ramses II, whose main facade features 4 astonishing 20-meter-high statues and represents the majesty of Ancient Egypt. If you walk inside, you will find an extensive gallery and several rooms to honor the gods of Egyptian culture. In Abu Simbel you will also find the temple dedicated to Nafertari, the favorite wife of this pharaoh.
